Story of 75 years: Pakistan Zindabad 🇵🇰

“The only real prison is fear, and the only real freedom is freedom from fear.”

Azadi has many different meanings in English, including independence, freedom, and liberation. These translations of azadi into English have slightly different meanings. "Condition of a person, nation, country or state in which residents and population, or some component thereof, exercise self-government and typically sovereignty over its territory" is how independence is defined. Being a dependent territory is the antithesis of independence. Although a person is mentioned in this definition of independence, a nation, a state, or a country is normally the subject.

There was a wave of decolonization in the second part of the 20th century. Through specific declarations, such as the 1960 Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples, certain colonies were granted the right to independence. It is debatable to what extent all persons are covered by these rights.

On August 14, Pakistanis celebrate their independence with extraordinary fervour, but are they actually independent in the true meaning of the word? Being independent is a blessing since it frees one from external control. It is autonomous. Independent units are not connected to more powerful ones. Are we not under the authority of others? Many people will respond "no" to this question. We can at most claim that we are no longer a colony. It would be challenging to substantiate the claim that no one has any sort of control over us.

Pakistanis have been commemorating their Independence Day for the past 75 years without understanding the distinction between being independent and not being colonised. A state must focus all of its efforts on developing administrative and legal frameworks that are solely governed by the collective desire and interests of its citizens if it is to achieve independence.

The elite in Pakistan appeared eager to hear a guarantee of American protection in the country's early years. Without American assistance, Chaudhry Zafarullah, Malik Ghulam Muhammad, Chaudhary Muhammad Ali, and Iskander Mirza did not believe Pakistan could endure and support itself.

The US first ignored Pakistan's requests. But the ruling class persisted in making sincere efforts to win over America, and they eventually won. A result of this unease, which was mostly felt by the elite, Pakistan joined the SEATO and the CENTO. There should be a thorough study of how these agreements helped us and how we suffered as a result of them. The results will no doubt open many people's eyes.

Only the elite might benefit from playing second fiddle to the US in terms of rewards. The same is true of Pakistan's participation in proxy conflicts. The fact is that Pakistan has relied on resources from abroad, the most of which are under American control.

According to the widely accepted definition of independence, our nation is a dependent, neo-colonial state that is being kept prisoner by a tiny elite. Such a polity is unable to create and implement autonomous policies and cannot ensure its citizens' freedom.

We now focus on the word "freedom." It is a citizen's unalienable right in a free state. The most important characteristic of a citizen is freedom. According to critic Hasan Askari, the ability to speak, act, gather, and hold opinions is what makes a person an adami. One sets out on a path where their true (latent) potential can be realised when going through that transformation. "The attribute or state of being free: such as the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action. b) emancipation from slavery or restraint, or from the control of another." is a straightforward definition of freedom. c) the attribute of being liberated or excused, typically from a burdensome obligation.

Humans have the fundamental freedom to communicate freely about any subject without interference from the government. It's crucial because it enables social transformation and intellectual interchange. We must be careful not to exercise the freedoms and liberties that our constitution grants us in an unfettered way that violates the rights of others.

Freedom loses its meaning in a socially hierarchical society. In order to protect freedoms, the state needs a strong judicial system, which is unfortunately lacking in Pakistan. Thus, governance has suffered greatly. Freedom is reduced to a utopian desire under this circumstance.

The personification of freedom is the eagle. The sight of this bird more than any other symbol stands for complete freedom. Eagles, however, are not common in our environment. I'm curious as to why Iqbal continued urging Muslims to emulate a shaheen. Our lives and our consciousness are noticeably missing of the bird.

In philosophy and theology, freedom is sometimes equated with the capacity for free choice and the absence of unjust or excessive restrictions, such as slavery. It is a thought that is strongly related to the idea of negative liberty. One of the differences between the positive and negative ideas of freedom—first defined in Isaiah Berlin's key article, Two Concepts of Liberty—is addressed by Charles Taylor.

He interchanges the terms liberty and freedom. There are two such families of ideas of political freedom, according to Taylor, and this is obvious. Politics frequently makes use of the idea of negative liberty. It is the notion that having the freedom to do as you like without interference from others. This idea has drawn criticism for being oversimplified and failing to take into account the significance of personal self-realization. Positivity liberty is the capacity to carry out one's goals.
