Movie Review and Download link: Akshay Kumar starrer Raksha Bandhan

Do you intend to watch Raksha Bandhan this weekend? Here is the complete review of Akshay Kumar and Anand L Rai movie.

Film Name: Raksha Bandhan

Cast: Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar & others

Director: Aanand L Rai

Movie Trailer 🎥:

Raksha Bandhan may have checked off all the boxes on paper that would have guaranteed audience tears: an orphan household where the brother is charged with parenting four sisters, a Dowry Death fight, and lastly, a message about women's empowerment. But none of it gels since the writing and directing team of Aanand L Rai, Himanshu Sharma, and Kanika Dhillon seems to be rushing to get everything wrapped up in the 1 hour, 50 minute running time.

The writing falls short in the film first, followed by the execution. The characters lack a graph, and the screenplay jumps around so quickly that all of the emotions turn out to be flimsy. The movie establishes Kedarnath, played by Akshay Kumar, as someone who cannot hear anything said against his sister, yet there is a contradiction in that character's behaviour when one of the sisters has deal with the effects of dowery. Raksha Bandhan needs a better conflict to tie everything together cohesively and is flawed at the conceptual level itself.

The film does have some great aspects, such as colourful cinematography with a festival feel and soulful music. The placement of songs within the story, on the other hand, cannot be claimed to be similar. The movie contains some genuinely funny banter, but nothing that sticks with you. Even the characters aren't given enough room to express their emotions due to the editing's sharpness and tightness, let alone the audience. There is a scene where Kedarnath, played by Akshay Kumar, sells his kidney to have one of the sisters married, but the producers mix in the sub-track about dowry death before this major problem ever arises.

Speaking of performances, Akshay Kumar portrays Kedarnath, a Gol Gappa vendor from a tiny town, with honesty. The only thing that actually makes the movie a bit enjoyable is his presence. He confidently drops those one-liners, and he even gets the emotional sequences' tempo just right. The screenplay falls short in delivering on his promise. The way Bhumi Pednekar plays Sapna is a little bit too outspoken. Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Smrithi Srikanth, and Deepika Khanna are four sisters who are good but whose characters lack depth. They are reduced to providing comic relief for a sizable portion of the story. Neeraj Sood and Seema Pahwa both wasted their talents.

Overall, a pure title like Raksha Bandhan called for a superior movie. Nothing truly connects at the end of the movie because of the rather superficial handling, despite the film having all the tools necessary to influence the audience on an emotional level.
