The End of the World: Scientists tells when the Sun will completely burnout.

Studies indicate that the Sun will go through a number of phases before dying.

The number of years the Sun has left until it extinguishes has been determined by a study based on the examination of millions of stars, including findings from the Gaia mission.

Each star's brightness and colour as seen from Earth were also established by this study. A star's size and temperature properties have also been found to vary rather regularly as a star ages.

How many years is Sun still alive?

The oldest star in the Milky Way, according to the researchers and astronomers who participated in this study, is 4.57 billion years old. Its composition, which is based on hydrogen and helium, gives it a great deal of stability.

This steadiness won't continue indefinitely. The star will eventually run out of hydrogen as time passes, and like all stars, the Sun will perish. But when will it actually happen?

How long will the Sun last?

The analysis predicts that the Sun will reach its maximum temperature in 8 billion years, after which time it will cool and grow larger.

After that time, the Sun will turn into a sizable sphere of red colour.

The Sun will reach this stage, where it will begin to die, in 11 billion years, when it will transform into a little, white star that emits almost no light.
